What should I pack for safari?

  1. Clothing tips

We know you won’t forget this, of course! But we do recommend you to bring comfortable and few casual pieces or clothing, with neutral colours such as khaki, beige or green as there aren’t many occasions to dress up on safari. Remember to pack at least

  1. 3-5pairs of t-shirts
  2. Long sleeves- long sleeves and pants will help you stay warm and avoid mosquito bites
  3. Sweaters or jacket for night or early morning game drive
  4. Travel towel
  5. Underwear
  6. Sun Hat/cap and sun glasses
  7. Sandals, sturdy boots/simple shoes
  8. Trousers/shorts/jeans
  9. 2-4 pair of socks
  10. Sleepwear

If your selected accommodation has a swimming pool or if you are flying to the beach, don’t forget to add swimwear on top of everything else. Remember the number of clothes that you will pack will depends with the number of days that you will spend on your safari trip.

  • Highly recommended personal stuffs.
  • Sunblock. Sometimes if the intensity of sunny is strong will help to protect your skin from sunburn
  • Lip balm: this will help to protect your lips from becoming dry.
  • Sunglasses. For protecting your eyes from sunlight or glare
  • Moisturizer. This is also important for applying on your body after shower/swim
  • Camera: you won’t want to miss any photo opportunity. And (believe us) there will be many! We recommend bringing a wide lens (about 17-55mm) and a telephoto lens. If the lens of your mobile phone is wide and you are not able to bring big camera, that also would be helpful for taking many photos but make sure your phone storage is enough for taking many photos and short video clips.
  • Binoculars: This also is very important and must in any safari. Sometimes we do provide a pair of top-notch binoculars per vehicle if requested and if you would like to more, they are available for hiring, we encourage our clients to bring their own too.
  • Insect repellent: better safe than sorry; this also is helpful during game viewing when it comes that there is disturbing flies.
  • Personal toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste etc.)
  • Hand sanitizer and wet wipes
  • Flashlight or Headlamp
  • USB cable, charger, extra batteries for your camera and Plug adaptor: the plugs might differ depending on the country you are visiting, make sure to put one on your bag that fit the UK style electrical socket.
  •   OTHER TIPS

Space for luggage in a safari car is limited so please limit your number of bags on safari. Excess luggage can be left behind for storage in our office which will be returned when you’re back from safari. Luggage can also be stored in hotels you will be returning to after safari.

  1. Bring soft luggage such as duffel bag, hiking pack or sport bag, these are ideal for packing in safari vehicle. Hard suitcases can often be difficult to fit in to the safari vehicle. Your backpack should be able to able to carry all your important items listed above
  2. Luggage tag

  2. Leave some space in your luggage for the all-important souvenir that you will probably buy after or before safari
  • A daypack is very handy to transport the items you need while driving around in the safari vehicle.
